New Years
Well, I’d hate to bore you with two days with long posts in a row, but so be it.
This last year has been one very tumultuous, and full of ups and downs. The reality is, this has been a pretty decent year for me, with relatively few downs, and a couple pretty decent highs.
I say this, not in some summation of meaning it as a good year, but rather, I would call this year one which I will...

creatingaquietmind:
nostalgia n. The nebulous feeling that visits you at 2am, dancing around in the shadows of your mind, effortlessly escaping your attempt at describing it well and good; it lingers – in the pauses between breaths, the crevices between light and dark, the grey area dividing heart and mind – and sets up residence in your soul, tattooing itself onto the inside of your eyelids so...

burstofhope replied to your post: burstofhope replied to your post: Why is kimchi…
After a lifetime of kimchi-eating, I can tell by taste, and definitely smell, what good kimchi is!
We should go on a quest, then! For delicious kimchi!

burstofhope replied to your post: Why is kimchi such a mixed bag? Whenever I go…
BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT IN KOREA, SILLY. Honestly, kimchi making is a big chemical process and has so many variables, that there is no universal “good kimchi.”
But.. but… I’m closer! I need to find someone to help me find tasty kimchi!
Why is kimchi such a mixed bag? Whenever I go somewhere and eat it, or buy it something with kimchi from the combini, it is delicious… and yet when I buy it for use at home, it tastes like death warmed over…

On Taking Ownership
When I first started this blog, I intended it for my writing. As time passed by, I would write here, throwing ideas out there, letting my thoughts flow. Recently, I hardly ever write, and all I seem to do is reblog. I intend to change that tonight. Judging from my title, long time followers will probably guess that this is going to be one of those long posts, and it has been a while since...

Late night... somethings.
The problem I have, and it has been a problem more or less since I moved here, is that at the end of the day, when I have these wonderful few days off, I get very depressed.
Most days, I keep myself so busy that I don’t have time to think, and life just goes on at a dizzying pace. I don’t like it that much, but it somehow beats the deep introspective pain I get on days when I have...

I ate all my curry sembei snacks… I told myself I would ration them out, but they are far too delicious. I am going to have to find a place where I can get them in Niigata…!

This reminds me of the Bamboo Sea in Yibin! Isn’t it amazing how different a bamboo forest is?!
I so want to see the Bamboo Sea! I had wanted to come to this forest the last time I was in Kyoto, but it didn’t work out. I kinda said “Nut to that” this trip, and made my way out...
